"Cooch" plied the infield for five teams in a fifteen season big league career and was perhaps best known for losing the American League  batting title to Snuffy Stirnweiss in 1945 by the slimmest margin imaginable (.000087) when a rainout denied him the chance to take matters into his own hands on the last day of the season. He could, obviously, hit and was a three-time All Star.  With the Braves for his 1939 Play Ball nod, he's struck a classic pose that's been signed in black ink that has run slightly in a couple of spots, leaving behind an autograph this is still pleasing to the eye.  Paper remnants adorn the reverse, the product of long-ago scrapbook removal.  The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
