Forever famous as the man who broke up up Bill Beven's no-hitter in game four of the 1947 World Series, pinch hitting for Eddie Stanky with two outs in the ninth with his knock winning the game for the Dodgers. It was to be his last hit in the major leagues but what a way to go out! This 1939 Play Ball card, graded Authentic by PSA, has a black ink signature with an initialed "H" standing in for Harry. There is some smear seen in the autograph and PSA/DNA has given it a grade of NM 7 accordingly. Some paper loss is visible on the reverse, the result of scrapbook removal. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
