Leo Durocher was in his first season as a major league Manager in 1939, while still making key contributions as the Dodgers everyday shortstop. So here is Leo the Lip, at the first dugout stop on his way to Cooperstown as a Manager, on a 1939 Play Ball Card that he signed in black ink.  PSA/DNA 8 in grade, the autograph is brash in appearance, which is quite appropriate, we think. Some paper remnants appear on the back, from long-ago scrapbook removal by the family of the original collector. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
