The 1898 Boston Beaneaters won their second straight National League pennant (eighth overall) with a regular season record of 102-47-3. They finished six games ahead of the runner-up Baltimore Orioles. This official scorecard is from a September 26th game that season in which the Beaneaters beat the Brooklyn Bridegrooms, 10-5. The weathered, four-sided scorecard shows its age with severe toning, three ripped corners and the fact that it’s torn in half. Regardless you can still read the complete lineups of both teams as well as the inning-by-inning scoring in pencil. Of note is that Boston's lineup included three eventual Hall of Famers: third baseman Jimmy Collins and outfielders Hugh Duffy and Billy Hamilton. The scorecard measures approx. 7.5" x 9.5".
