An excellent defensive first baseman, Joe Kuhel's offensive career was plagued by inconsistency, as he batted .277 across an 18-year career, a career that included seasons like 1936, when he hit .321 with 16 home runs and 118 RBI, and seasons like 1843, when he hit .213 with 5 home runs and 46 RBI. His signature and inscription are applied at the bottom left of this card, authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
