One of three different N172 cards featuring Hall of Famer Tommy McCarthy in a sliding pose, this example, card #301-1, boasts an exceptional image with very little overall wear.  The qualifier assessed by PSA speaks to a small "X" written in ink at the top-right corner of the reverse.  Light soiling is visible on the otherwise blank reverse.  An example of a Type B card of the "0" numbered series of 1887, this is the very same card pictured as the exemplar for card #301-1 in The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company (1886-1890), the hobby's premiere reference tool for this issue.
