This vintage print of the 1917 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox is a coveted treasure for any baseball historian. The top of the print reads "Comiskey's Champion White Sox - 1917" and is followed underneath by the entire 1917 White Sox squad standing shoulder-to-shoulder across the team’s home field at Comiskey Park. This 1917 team won the World Series four games tio two over the New York Giants, but just two years later was involved in the biggest scandal in MLB history as eight of the team's players were accused of fixing the World Series and eventually banned for life. Several superstars are presented here including "Shoeless" Joe Jackson and Ray Schalk, in addition to all eight of the "Black Sox" players banned for their role in throwing the World Series two years later.. Three inset pics hover above the players and show three team executives: Secretary Harry Grabiner, President (and owner) Charles Comiskey and Treasurer J. Lewis Comiskey. Toning spots are present and significant paper loss can be seen across the top of the print and in two specific areas on the bottom. Matted against a white background, the presentation is still quite exceptional.  The original photo is matted and framed to a finished size of approximately 44" x 24".
