Extraordinary high-grade card of William "Pop" Schriver, a journeyman catcher who lasted 14 seasons that was best known for catching a baseball dropped from the Washington Monument (years before Gabby Street earned more publicity for the same feat). Sharp and clean, the card is, along with one other NM example, the highest-graded N172 of Schriver, with just 84 examples of any card in the issue graded higher by PSA. Shriver's career lasted into the 20th Century as he played in 53 games for the 1901 St. Louis Cardinals, and he was an excellent catcher for his era. A high-grade N172, a prized item among advanced collectors.
