Collection of three typed letters from the 1930's addressed to Mr. Bill Skiff from major league clubs in New York. Skiff had solicited his services to both the Giants and Yankees who politely turned him down. All three letters are presented on the official letterhead for each club and signatures include: 1) Ed Barrow 2) Joe McCarthy 3) Bill Terry. These letters hail directly from the estate of Bill Skiff who played briefly for both the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1921 and the New York Yankees in 1926, appearing in 22 major league games. Perhaps more interestingly Skiff played in parts of 19 seasons in the minor leagues for clubs located just about everywhere from New Jersey to Kansas City, Los Angeles, Toronto and elsewhere. Following his playing days Skiff managed in the minors for 14 seasons between 1933-51 before later becoming a scout for both the New York Yankees and Seattle Pilots. All three letters include basic certs from James Spence Authentication.
