Ever since the late, great Jackie Robinson broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier in 1947, racial equality was a topic often discussed in the ensuing years that remains a hot topic today. Robinson’s bravery, perseverance and impressive play during those early years woke the country up to what equality really meant. Offered here is a circa 1940s Racial & Religious Equality ink blotter featuring four MLB stars at the time: Joe DiMaggio (Yankees) Sid Gordon (Giants), Robinson (Dodgers) and Bob Feller (Indians). It also includes legendary sports broadcaster Mel Allen with a quote bellowing from Allen’s microphone saying, “...and remember fans… in America HITS are made by men of EVERY race, religion and color.” The two-tone blotter, which is in VG condition, measures approx 3.25” high by 6.25” wide.
