Female sports photographer Pamela Schuyler captured one of the most famous brawls in baseball history when the New York Yankees visited Fenway Park on Aug 1, 1973. From her high perch, Shuyler snapped the image presented in this large-format Type 1 photograph as Yankee captain Thurman Munson clocked Red Sox catcher Carlton Fisk during an attempted squeeze play in the ninth inning. While no footage of the moment exists Schuyler's iconic photo has been reproduced countless times over the decades, epitomizing the ferocity of the Red Sox/Yankees storied rivalry during this era and beyond. Measuring 12.5" x 13.5" the photo is too large for encapsulation but nevertheless has been authenticated by PSA as a Type 1 original. Borderless print remains free of obtrusive blemishes to photo surface and verso which remains blank aside from Schuyler's signature at the bottom edge. A fresh-to-the-hobby example directly from the photographer herself. Pamela Schuyler notably shot for several Boston-area publications and the Associated Press from 1971-78 while also serving as team photographer for the Boston Celtics from 1974-76. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA.
