Rare advertising card featuring the 1878 Buffalo Bisons of the International Association, considered to be one of the greatest minor league teams ever assembled. Jim "Pud" Galvin, the Hall-of-Famer with a rubber arm, was the main attraction on a team that would find itself in the National League the following season. This is one of three examples known to exist, and the only one we have ever handled.  It is important to note that while the card was graded AUTHENTIC by SGC, it has not been altered in any way and was likely graded as such due to the grading company's unfamiliarity with the issue, as it is truly rare - SGC often grades unfamiliar issues this way.  Measuring 5 3/8" x 3", the card features an albumen photo of the ball club, the players identified underneath along with the club's 25-8 record.  In addition to Galvin (spelled "Galvin" here), the other team members identified are Davey Force, Tom Dolan, Steve Libby, Chick Fulmer, Jack Allen, Bill Crowley, Bill McGunnigle, Dave Eggler, Denny Mack and Trick McSorely.  The team image is intact and the card as a whole is well preserved, easily the finest example of the three extant.  The reverse shows a notation of "9,500.00" in pencil but is otherwise clean. To put the age of this piece in perspective, Rutherford B. Hayes was the sitting U.S. President when this was issued.  A tremendous, rare, museum-quality piece featuring the earliest image of Hall of Famer Pud Galvin in uniform.
