Lot Description  

Intriguing collection of four original news service photos related to coaching staff of the late 1920's to early 1930's Philadelphia Athletics. Includes: 1) Wonderful c.1929 Eddie Collins 5" x 7" portrait with American League Service Bureau stamping on verso. 2) 6" x 8" photo of Kid Gleason, Connie Mack, and Eddie Collins on top step of their dugout. Full paper cation on verso with 1929 credit stamping from NEA. 3) 1931 6" x 8" photo from the Athletic's flag raising ceremony in honor of their World Series championship from the season prior. Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis and coach Kid Gleason stand together during the festivities. Full paper caption from Acme on verso. 4) 1929 6" x 8" photo depicting Kid Gleason greeting heavyweight champion James Jeffries and his brother. Full paper caption on verso from International with a date stamp of Sept. 14, 1928 below. All photos in this collection are guaranteed Type 1.
