The 1972 set, the largest set Topps had ever produced to that point (and for years after), at 787 cards was issued in three series, with the third series of 132 cards being particularly tough. The set's design - possibly the Topps set most reflective of the style of the era in which it was issued - is a post-psychedelic, pre-disco melange of color and tacky typography, and features some very difficult Hall of Famers and key cards. Presented here is a particularly clean mid grade set, very lightly handled but largely sharp. Of course the poor Topps quality control of the era has resulted in a multitude of centering issues which reduce the technical grade, but the cards themselves are quite sharp and clean. A condition breakdown might be 4% NM, 19% EX/MT, 47% EX, 26% VG/EX, and 4% VG, with the key cards grading out as follows: #37 Yastrzemski (VG-EX), #49 Mays (EX-MT), #51 Killebrew (EX-MT), #79 Cooper/Fisk (VG-EX), #90 Perez (VG-EX), #100 F. Robinson (VG-EX), #130 Gibson (VG-EX), #132 Morgan (EX), #200 Brock (EX), #270 Palmer (EX), #280 McCovey (EX-MT), #299 Aaron (EX), #309 Clemente (VG-EX), #330 Hunter (EX-MT), #420 Carlton (EX), #433 Bench (VG-EX), #435 Jackson (EX), #441 Munson (EX-MT), #445 Seaver (VG-EX), #447 Stargell (VG), #530 Sutton (EX), #550 B. Robinson (VG-EX), #599 Rose (EX), #600 Kaline (VG-EX), #695 Carew (VG), #751 Carlton Traded (VG-EX), #752 Morgan Traded (EX), #754 F. Robinson Traded (VG). A sharp, clean and vibrant set, higher grade save for Topps' centering challenges. 787 cards total.
