In 1903, the Boston Americans (now Red Sox), champions of the American League, won the World Series title by defeating the National League Champion Pittsburgh Pirates five games to three. Led by player/manager Jimmy Collins, the Americans quickly fell behind three games to one before mounting an incredible comeback and winning four straight games to win the championship. Both Cy Young and Bill Dinneen tallied two wins apiece during that four-game stretch. This lot features an original copy of sheet music to the Boston Americans March “Dedicated to the Boston American Baseball Team, Champions of the World.” The two-color, front cover shows a well-known image of Collins in full Americans uniform leaning on a bat. The two step sheet music was composed by J. Ignatius Coveney and printed by the Cecilian Music Company of Hyde Park, Mass. Overall condition is good.
