Paul Thompson's news photo service was known to have snapped hundreds of player portraits from 1910-13, seemingly in an attempt to catalog everyone on active rosters. While the presented photograph features an image very similar to that used for Stahl's 1911 T205 tobacco card, this particular image was most likely captured in 1912 upon his return to the team following a one year hiatus. Stahl would manage the 1912 Red Sox to a World Series victory and an overall record of 105-47 - a franchise best until the 2018 Red Sox finished their campaign 108-54. Two small chips to the top and bottom borders are visible with moderate creasing to the upper-left corner. Otherwise, this spectacular 5" x 7" photo of Stahl remains consistent with the finest portraits now synonymous with Thompson's service.
