The sepia-on-gray look of the 1919 Zeenuts seems like it shouldn't work but it absolutely does. Dazzy Vance, the Hall of Fame hurler best known for climbing the hill for Brooklyn, spent all of the 1919 season in the Pacific Coast League with Sacramento, where he went 10-18 across 294 innings as he continued his erratic journey to big league greatness. Missing its coupon, which was neatly removed, SGC has graded the card VG/EX 4, with corner rounding present, and a blob of residue along the left border seen but not distracting. The reverse has the nice, vintage look of being handled lightly in a stack or handful of these way back when.
