Goudey's 1933 Sport Kings set was the first of the more modern multi-sport set gum issues that started taking hold in the early 1930's once sanitary packaging became established. Over a dozen sports were represented in the 48 subject set, including four boxers. Leading the way was the Babe Ruth of the boxing world, Jack Dempsey. Seen here in a PSA 3 holder, with centering aligning to the lower right and the corners rounding a little, the card presents superbly for the grade, with the champ's raw power and steely gaze captured in fine detail against a powder blue background. The reverse shows signs of two lightly developed creases in the upper right corner as seen, essentially undetectable on the obverse, with just a small spot or two of foxing. A popular card from an increasingly popular set.
