Offered here is a 160-year-old “Thanksgiving Party” invitation to the Una Base Ball Club’s gathering at the Armory Hall in Brooklyn, New York. The team, which began play in 1858, was based in Brooklyn. This tri-fold invitation, which is addressed to “Clara Hunt,” reads in part: “The pleasure of your company is solicited at the THANKSGIVING PARTY of the UNA BASE BALL CLUB AT ARMORY HALL on Thursday Evening, November 28th, 1867.” It mentions that the Floor Director is Frank A. Sargent, and that “Carriages Will Call From 7 to 9 O’Clock.” Despite its years of existence, the invitation is still legible and only shows tearing on the left hand side.
