Tremendous original cabinet photo of center and influential pro Basketball Hall of Famer, Ed Wachter. Wachter posed for this image c.1909 (perhaps earlier) while he was premiering for one of professional basketball's early dynasties - the Troy Trojans of both the Hudson River and New York State Leagues. Wachter is credited with introducing basketball to the bounce pass and helping to pioneer the fast break offense, both of which fundamentally changed how the game is played. 3.5" x 6.5" photo remains in pristine condition and is affixed to a heavy mount measuring approx. 5" x 9.5". Blind stamping from a photography studio is partially obscured by tape residue in the lower-right corner and all four corners of mount appear to have been clipped away. Verso remains blank save for a handwritten identifier of Wachter in pencil. A fresh-to-the-hobby example directly from the collection of former official NBA historian, Bill Himmelman (1995-02).
