Walzl's Imperial Portrait Studios were responsible for photos of Baltimore and Brooklyn players that appeared in the N172 Old Judge issue in 1888 and 1889, respectively. Brooklyn catcher Bob Clark, subject of seven Old Judge cards, is pictured here in what would become pose #76-1 in the issue. As is the case with many of the Old Judge proofs, the image quality is very strong, rich in detail with outstanding image contrast. In this case, the laces on Clark's jersey and the pads in his pants are easily discernible, even the studio backdrop is clear in the image. Some foxing is evident here and there, along with light wear to the edges and corners. Aside from some light toning and soiling, the reverse is clear.
