1916 saw Morehouse Baking engage the youths of Lawrence Massachusetts in a prize contest. A "Dandy" baseball bat and ball, or a jump rope were offered for fifty cards from the set presented at the company's  premises and the original owner availed themselves accordingly, as this SGC 1.5 of Hall of Famer Joe Tinker features a prominent purple cancellation stamp on the reverse. The image on the front, of Tinker in action, has a crease running through it, with marvelous contrast evident.

It is important to note that SGC has factored in the cancellation stamp when arriving at their grade.  The cancellation was part of a redemption offer whereby collectors could redeem 50 different cards for a ball and bat, or a jumprope.  The cards would be stamped on the reverse when redeemed.  As a result, many of the surviving Morehouse Baking cards have similar cancellation stamps on the reverse.  In the case of some issues like this (Obaks come to mind), SGC notates back stamps on the reverse.  In this case, no such notation is made, however, we believe that the cancellation stamp is part of the life cycle of the cards in this set, and actually increases its desirability.
