Both of these decorative promotional calendars, which measure 10” wide by 14” tall apiece, were issued by the Boston American newspaper for the 1910 MLB season. The black-and-white calendars show the complete season schedules for the Boston Red Sox and Boston Doves, respectively, with the dates surrounded by portrait images of 20 different team members from either club. Red Sox players include Tris Speaker, Harry Hooper, Joe Wood, Ed Cicotte, Duffy Lewis, Bill Carrigan, and manager Patsy Donovan. The Doves players include Bill Sweeney, Al Mattern, Fred Liese, Gus Getz, Cliff Curtis, Billy Burke, Buster Brown, Cecil Ferguson, and manager Fred Lake. Each calendar features the specific team name and league affiliation along the top and is lettered "Compliments of the Boston American" on the bottom. Both of these calendars are more than a century old, but remain in very good condition overall. The Red Sox example displays a few tiny edge tears and a small area of vertical adhesive residue that stretches upon the month of August area and the "Key" below it. The Doves calendar displays three short horizontal tears extending inward from the left side, as well as some slight toning and a few surface wrinkles.
