Major leaguer, Sam Jethroe poses for cameras during action with the Cuban Winter League's Cienfuegos in this fantastic 5" x 8" original photograph. At the age of 33 Jethroe was named National League Rookie of the Year in 1950, leading the league with 35 stolen bases. He then repeated that feat, again leading the league in stolen bases in 1951, also with 35 steals. Please note that further research indicates the image may in-fact have been captured as late as the mid-1950's. This is a bold image of Jethroe with near-perfect tonal contrast. Heavy creasing and a pinhole appear in the upper-left corner with light wear to the remaining corners including a light crease lower-right. Verso includes "Fotos RFM Habana" credit stamping with a Jethroe's name and team written in pencil above. Authenticated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
