Lot Description  

Fabulous 1939 original news service photograph of future Boston Red Sox fan-favorite, Dom DiMaggio during his time with the Pacific Coast League's San Francisco Seals. Shot at Seals Stadium in San Francisco's Mission District one season prior to his major league debut, DiMaggio's left sleeve displays the unmistakeable 1939 Baseball Centennial patch initially designed after his brother Joe's likeness. 6" x 8.25" photo exhibits typical handling wear and light creasing associated with working press photos of the era and includes remnants of a paper caption on verso. Large Acme Newspictures credit stamping appears in blue. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
