Gorgeously sharp 8" x 10" photograph of giants outfielders Don Mueller and Willie Mays congratulating pitcher Sal Maglie for his ninth consecutive victory of 1952. The date was May 27 and Mays would depart at the conclusion of this series against the Dodgers to join the armed forces, not to return to the team until March 1, 1954. Of course, Mays enjoyed a historic season in '54, leading his Giants to their final World Series title in New York. Photo exhibits considerable wear to corners and edges mostly contained within the white borders. Moderate toning is present along edges of verso with a strip of tape reside towards the bottom edge. Various handwritten notations are present in ballpoint with United Press International stamping appearing towards upper-left. This photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has remained for several decades until the time of this sale. Authenticated as a Type 2 photo, developed sometime between 1958-62 by PSA/DNA.
