Hank Sauer was on his way to the National League MVP award in 1952 and the inept Cubbies, who did not produce a winning season during the entire decade of the 50's, seemed to specialize in producing players who pulled off this trick (see: Banks, Ernie 1958 & 1959). Sauer also did it at age 35, which is even more impressive. The card, with its crazy color scheme featuring a head-shaking pink sky, has sustained some corner hits and has some minor surface wear. The autograph has been applied in blue ballpoint, with a PSA/DNA grade of NM-MT 8.
