There are few cards in the hobby which are hotter than green background T206 Cobbs; it seems that with each sale a new record is set. Such astronomical prices realized are quickly pricing some collectors out of the market when it comes to attractive specimens. Rarely does an example hit the market that appears stronger than the assigned grades, as collectors continuously resubmit lower-grade examples hoping to move their cards into the best holders possible. Such is the case however with this card, which is a fine clear and well-centered example rich with color and strong print registration. At first glance the corner and surface wear seem consistent with a higher-grade example, though flipping the card over reveals four larger spots of paper loss that are the likely result of scrapbook removal and the reason for the reduction in grade. A wonderful example of one of the hobby's most sought-after cards with a tougher Sovereign back; this is one of the key Hall of Famers in the most popular prewar set ever issued. Simply a tremendous card.
