By 1909 Jesse Burkett's Hall of Fame career had drawn to an end and into his late 30s he had become a player-manager with the Worcester Busters of the New England League. As player-manager he continued hitting .300 until 1913 where as a 44-year-old outfielder he hit just .238. During his playing career however he finished with a .338 lifetime batting average surpassing .400 twice. Known as "The Crab" for his surly disposition Burkett was once kicked out of both games of a doubleheader. Fresh to the hobby this beautiful example of Burkett's T204 Ramly card has been graded VG 40 by SGC largely due to edge wear and chipping that is so common with the set's gold borders. Still the card is an extremely clean and bright specimen stored for years inside a metal cigarette tin with some other T204 Ramlys. Evidence of the tin can be found on the reverse in the form of a small black stain and some very light rust-colored staining at the top edge - the primary reason for the reduced grade. An outstanding example of one of the key cards in a difficult set that has been gaining significant popularity due to its beauty.
