Hall of Fame defensive lineman Leo Nomellini's hard-hitting style is well-represented on his 1948 Leaf card as he is posed as if to tackle an opposing ball carrier (though Leo is not wearing a helmet). Nomellini was a United States Marine serving in World War II and learning football during his war years. Pictured on his 1948 leaf card with the University of Minnesota Nomellini received a football scholarship to play there after the war. Upon leaving college he became the first ever draft choice for the San Francisco 49ers in 1950. Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA the card has all the hallmarks of a higher grade: unbelievably rich and deep color very little wear and strong corners (save for a touch at the top left). Centering is off from left to right (or top to bottom if you hold the card horizontally) which is likely what has kept it from grading higher. Still an outstanding example of a key Hall of Famer from one of the football hobby's greatest vintage sets.
