The Exhibit Supply Company gave their already venerable line of arcade cards a much needed facelift in 1939, breaking away from the multi-player cards the defined their Depression-era look. Lou Gehrig, who retired early in the 1939 season was one of the most obvious subjects for inclusion and issued for a very limited period. With cordial "Salutations" on the front, the cards had a look of their own that was often imitated.  This Gehrig has a pinhole near the top, otherwise it would grade out much higher than this SGC 1.5 with its minutely touched corners, straight edges and wonderful image of the all time great Yankees First Baseman, where a slight crease runs down into his cap. The reverse has the dreamy, creamy look Exhibit collectors covet.  An collector grade example of this exceptionally scarce card, albeit with amazing eye appeal.
