Gil Hodges began his Dodgers career in 1943, appearing as a Third Baseman in a single game before enlisting in the Marines and seeing heavy combat in the Pacific. He returned to Brooklyn in 1947 and from there went on to harass National League pitchers until he was left exposed in the 1961 NL expansion draft, where he was selected by the nostalgia-fueled Mets. As such, his 1961 Topps card was his last in Dodgers blue. This PSA 8 shows a mature Hodges at the bat, with an image shifted just a tad left and down. The color is well defined and borders and corners all looking sharp.
