A companion piece to another Hilltop Park photo in this auction, the presented example depicts third base line rooters on Opening Day - April 22, 1909. A reported crowd of 15,000 fans were on hand to witness their hometown Highlanders host the Washington Senators – a contest which New York won by a score of 8-1 behind Clyde Engle's 3-for-4 day that included 4 RBI's and a HR. Jack Quinn tossed a complete game, scattering seven hits and striking out two. 5" x 7" photo is missing small portions of each corner, with the upper-left corner suffering the most. Notations appear in ballpoint along bottom border. Verso displays remnants of paper affixed to all four corners while displaying two distinct Brown Brothers credit stamps. Encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
