Due to printing on very thin photographic paper, the T222 Fatima Cigarettes cards are extremely susceptible to condition flaws. Wrinkles and tears are common among these cards, which are scarce to begin with. In fact, approximately 25% of the graded examples have been assessed as POOR or lesser, with just a handful grading above EX. Surviving examples are usually severely worn. Such is the case with this example, submitted by us to SGC and assessed as POOR condition, due in part to staining and creasing visible on the front. The image of Alexander remains clear and sharp despite all the creasing and areas of discoloration. The reverse, however, is another matter, as the back is covered with paper remnants, clearly an indication that it was, at some point, mounted in a vintage scrapbook. The remnants obscure the text on the back of the card. The fact remains that examples of this card in the lowest grade routinely approach $2,000 on the infrequent occasion that POOR examples make themselves available. Despite the card's obvious condition flaws, it remains incredibly difficult to find in any grade.
