Unique 1910 original mounted photograph from Charles Conlon depicting St. Louis Browns hurler, Barney Pelty at Hilltop Park. Known as the "Yiddish Curver," Pelty boasted a phenomenal curveball and was one of only a handful of Jewish players active during the Deadball Era. Deadball Era photo collectors hold mounted Conlon photos in high regard as these were either gifted to the players by Conlon himself or offered for sale to them directly. Photo and mount present beautifully though there is a large crease along the right edge of both. Light wear to the corners is evident, especially to the lower-left corner where there is some minor creasing. Charles Conlon's personal stamp appears on verso, which is otherwise blank. One of several pieces in our 10th Anniversary Auction emanating directly from the estate of Barney Pelty where they have remained until the time of this sale. Overall dimensions of approx. 5.75" x 6.75". Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
