New York Yankees legend and Hall of Fame first baseman, Henry Louis Gehrig takes a powerful cut in this unique batting practice photo from the 1930's. Gehrig is pictured wearing a warmup jacket at Yankee Stadium with a catcher and batting cage behind him as a small group of observers look on. Interestingly, the baseball Gehrig has just struck is still within frame and the catcher is recoiling, perhaps in anticipation of a foul tip. Gehrig himself is slightly out of focus here due to the fast action. Photo surface is clean and smooth with just a touch of wear to the corners and paper remnants remain affixed to all four corners of verso which is otherwise clean. Large, bold International News stamping is also present, identifying them as the issuing service. Measures 6.5” x 8.5”. Encapsualted as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
