This ticket stub is one of a complete run of stubs from every New York Yankees/Brooklyn Dodgers World Series game being offered in this auction.  We invite you to view our printed catalog or visit our e-book catalog online at https://online.flippingbook.com/view/961320424/ to read an excellent article on the crosstown rivalry written by SABR president Mark Armour.

The significance of the 1947 season cannot be overstated, as Jackie Robinson's debut in the major leagues had an impact on every facet of American life.  It all crystallized on September 30 at Yankee Stadium, however, as Robinson led the Brooklyn Dodgers into battle against the Yankees in front of 73,365 fans.  In the top of the first inning with one out, Jackie Robinson would draw a walk and steal second base against Spec Shea, marking the first time a Black player would appear in a World Series.  In the third inning Robinson would walk once again, moving to second on a balk by the unnerved Yankee pitcher.  Although the Dodgers second baseman would be retired in his next two at bats in the 5-3 Yankees victory, he made his presence known, scoring three runs and stealing two bases in the 7-game series.

One of the most important tickets of the entire Brooklyn Dodgers/New York Yankees run, this example is the highest-graded example assessed by PSA, one of just two graded at this level.  Strong eye appeal with light wear at the perforation, a tremendous stub marking one of the key games in the illustrious career of Jackie Robinson.
