E135 is a large west coast issued set from a maker that specialized in Pacific Coast League cards.  Except for their "Baseball's Hall of Fame", which this card hails from, the other Collins-McCarthy releases all featured PCL players.  Not so here, as 200 subjects from the AL and NL are in the set, which was released at a time when few comprehensive issues came out.  It shares some photos with the later E121 set and the much-later E126 issue, both from American Caramel, but E135 came first.

Art Wilson, who hit the first home run in Wrigley Field history, was a journeyman catcher for 14 seasons and managed to just miss being on World Champion squads throughout his career.  Wilson was blanked in other words, and so is this card. Blank-backed E135's are rare and SCG has graded seven examples overall of this subject but unfortunately doesn't identify which of those are blanks.  PSA has but one blank back Wilson in their pop report. This SGC 2.5 is a nice one, with some not-too-serious corner bends and bruises and featuring a well composed and reproduced photo.  The blank back has some light foxing and staining here and there but looks fabulous.
