Lot Description  

Collector-grade example of Hall of Famer John Clarkson's card from the beautiful Mayo's Cut Plug tobacco issue.  The card has been graded GOOD+ 2.5 by SGC, largely due to edge chipping that is common to the issue due to its stark black borders.  Some additional surface wear is evident in the bottom border, a surface wrinkle breaking into the black area.  Regardless, an outstanding card, one of the key Hall of Famers in this popular 19th Century issue.
