Attractive card from the 1920s multi-sport set issued by the Spalding Sporting Goods Company.  Graded GOOD 2, the card features Ernie Nevers, one of the great football players of his era and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Nevers led the 1925 Stanford football team to a 7-2 record, receiving All-American first-team honors.  A multi-sport athlete, he became a pitcher with the 1926 St. Louis Browns and then joined the Duluth Eskimos of the National Football League for the 1926 season.  He continued as a two-sport athlete until the end of the 1928 baseball season, coaching both baseball and football at Stanford in 1928, then joining the Chicago Cardinals in 1929.  This example of Nevers' pre-rookie card has been graded GOOD 2 by SGC due to what appears to be adhesive staining on the reverse.  The more difficult "ad back" variation, a valuable and scarce card, the true rookie of a player who's rookie card is often considered to be his 1955 Topps All-American issue.
