The Diamond Stars issue was produced by National Chicle and issued in packs of Diamond Stars Gum during the three-year period between 1934 and 1936.  Due to the multiple years of issue, a variety of card backs exist; a total of 170 different cards are necessary to build a master set, though the set is considered complete at 108.  Featuring beautiful art deco designs that dovetail with the National Chicle football and "Sky Birds" issues, the set is one of the most underrated prewar issues in the hobby, likely due to the absence of a Ruth or Gehrig card in the set.  Loaded with Hall of Famers, stars and variations, the set is challenging to complete, with the 12 high numbers extremely challenging to obtain in any grade.

Presented here is a complete 108-card set, a mixed-grade set assembled over a period of years by a dedicated prewar collector who clearly paid attention to color and image quality where possible.  Though there are centering issues here and there consistent with the issue, the bulk of the cards are clean and colorful.  A condition breakdown would be as follows: 5% EX and slightly better, 15% VG/EX, 32% VG, 26% GOOD, 19% FAIR, and 3% POOR with a few likely trimmed.  There are 12 graded cards in the set, broken down as follows: SGC EX/NM 6 (1 card): #62 Frankhouse; SGC VG/EX 4 (3 cards): #4 Myer, #95 Appling (HOF), #100 Averill (HOF); PSA VG-EX 4 (1 card): #104 Rolfe;SGC VG 3 (4 cards): #3 Maranville (HOF), #44 Hornsby (HOF), #64 Foxx (HOF), #72 Piet; PSA GOOD 2 (2 cards): #97 Lopez (HOF), #105 Lombardi (HOF); SGC FR 1.5 (1 card): #1 Grove.
