Outer portfolio cover that once held the entirety of the 1905 W601 Sporting Life team composites.  The composites themselves were typically sold by mail, measuring 13" x 14" and printed on heavy enamel paper, sold for ten cents each.  Complete sets were also offered in some years, string-bound into these outer covers.  This example housed the 1905 composites featured elsewhere in this auction and is rich and colorful, with visible edge and spine wear that illustrates that the cover did its job of protecting the interior pages.  The paper is brittle and delicate, but a strong display and companion for a collector attempting to complete the full 1905 set.
