No doubt timed to his autobiography of the year prior, the 11 card Connie Mack All Stars subset issued by Topps as part of their 1951 Baseball Candy brand has bedeviled collectors almost since they debuted over 70 years ago. Designed to have the B&W image pop out from the red background so it could be proudly displayed, these oversized cards are prone to all sorts of disasters and are often found with only the player portion intact. This PSA 5 card of Grover Cleveland Alexander happily avoided such a fate and is nice and bright with just a small nick out at the top and near his throwing shoulder. The entire series is a tough one to find, particularly when it comes to unpunched cards.
