Certainly one of the ugliest baseball card sets ever attempted, the 1961 7-11 issue was intended to be comprised of multiple 30-card series released two weeks apart, but was mercifully halted after just one series. The cards were sold in groups of seven for five cents in vending machines, with black and white photos printed on pink card stock, with some crudely typeset biographical and statistical data on each player. They are extremely scarce today, and highly-prized in any grade. This is a collector-grade group, some with paper loss and others with staining from clear tape at the top and bottom edges. Collection includes the following: #2 Don Mossi (P), #3 Joey Jay (G), #4 Bob Purkey (G), #5 Jack Fisher (G), #6 John Romano (VG), #7 Russ Snyder (VG/EX), #8 Johnny Temple (P), #9 Roy Sievers (F), #10 Ron Hansen (P), #11 Pete Runnels (P), #12 Gene Woodling (P), #13 Clint Courtney (G), #16 Stan Musial (HOF - P), #19 Joe Cunningham (P), #22 Yogi Berra (HOF - G), #23 Ernie Banks (HOF - P), #24 Lou Burdette (P), #25 Roger Maris (P), #28 Mel Ott (HOF - P), #27 Jimmie Foxx (HOF - P), #29 Don Nottebart (P). An extremely scarce issue, difficult enough that most collectors aspire to obtain just one card just to add the type to their collections. 21 cards, a near-complete set.
