These were unknown until a small batch was introduced into the hobby around 1981, likely through some backdoor, yet "official" channels. Topps made three known internal attempts to get the silky cloth to stick to the backing before they came out with the 1977 Cloth Sticker set and this is the second of those experiments.  33 subjects were taken from a section of each 3rd series half sheet (132 cards per half sheet) and were transformed into stickers on a 3 x 11 array (with some waste partials on either extreme edge and a gutter in the middle), with all known examples hand cut from those panels. There's a small brace of Hall-of-Famers in the set with Clemente represented "In Action" on a PSA 5 that displays the hand cut nature of these singles. This one has the typical glue-induced toning on front and retains the sticker backing, which tends to "float" after 50 years, or outright disappear. These are scarce and Clemente is not often seen.
