Between 1883 and 1938 the Brooklyn major league baseball club accumulated a number of nicknames including the Atlantics Grays Bridegrooms Robins Trolley Dodgers and many more before eventually settling on Dodgers as the team's official name. It was the affectionate nickname "Bums " however that described the team's play from the mid 1920s to the late 1930s when the team consistently finished in the second division. The nickname stuck among fans of the team until the great 1955 team defeated the Yankees in the World Series. In 1992 the Cooperstown Bat Company produced a limited-edition set of commemorative bats in honor of three of the greatest "Bums" of all: Roy Campanella Duke Snider and Pee Wee Reese. The three Hall of Famers are represented beautifully on these three clubs each of which remain in virtually new condition. Also included is the bat rack provided with the set in equally new condition. Numbered 165 of 500 produced this is a beautiful collectible designed to honor one of the most beloved teams in the history of the game.
