I have one to sell!
Distributed in tins of Violet Chips and Mint Chips gum by the Colgan's Gum Company the "Stars of the Diamond" issue features 1 7/16" diameter cards printed on delicate paper. Distributed between 1909 and 1911 there are a number of variations among the issue resulting in at least 289 different cards featuring more than 225 different subjects. The result is a fascinating and very condition-sensitive set. Complete sets are virtually impossible to assemble with some of the reported variations not even confirmed. A complete master set of Colgan's Chips is an extremely challenging task. This collection features 101 cards of 73 different subjects with a number of variations. Included are Abstein Abbaticchio Adams (3) Ames(2) Austin Babb Baerwald (2) Bailey Bates (2) Beaumont Becker Bemis Berger Birmingham (2) Bridwell Burch (2) Cammitz Clarke (Cincinnati) Coveleski (2) Davis Daubert Delahanty Demmett Devlin (2) Dougherty Dunn Ellis Evans (2) Fromme Gaspar (3) Getz Gibson (2) Hahn Hanford Hartsel (2) Henley Hughes (3) Hummel Kaiser Killian Knight Konetchy Lafitte Lelivelt Lindaman (2) Lord Maddox (3) McCormick (2) McIntyre (2) Miller Mitchell (2) Moriarty (2) Murray Paskert Pfeister Purtell Phillipe Overall Raymond Reilly (2) Rowan Seymour Schardt Snodgrass (2) Spade Steinfeldt Stone (3) Sullivan Summers (2) Wauner Wiltse and Woods. The majority of the cards are very presentable and attractive with little creasing and chipping throughout. While there are certainly off-grade examples in the collection an average grade of VG/EX with some better is a reasonable assessment. A rare group of more than one hundreds Colgan's Chips. 101 cards total.
