The M&M Boys chase of Babe Ruth's single season homerun record caught the nation's rapt attention in 1961. Mantle ended up injured and still hit a whopping 54 dingers, while Maris, quite obviously, prevailed with 61. This is a truly special 1961 Topps card, signed by both and featuring the American League Home Run Leaders from the year prior, with a taste of bigger and better things to come. A mere 7 have been authenticated by PSA/DNA and both signatures are strong, with an especially bold one for Maris atop a classic Mantle autograph. What a cool piece of Yankees and major league history!
