Strong example of an incredibly scarce regional issue featuring members of the 1947 Tacoma Tigers of the Western League. The black and white photos are marked with the Morley Studios logo on the front and feature a facsimile autograph, while the reverse includes either a blank back (as is the case for the issue's first seven cards), or anecdotal information from and about the player, identifying the player biographies to "Jordan's Breadcaster," Jordan's Bread being a regional company and sponsor.
The cards are quite beautiful and well-composed, particularly for a minor league issue of the era. This example features Bob Joratz, a career minor leaguer playing his last season with Tacoma in 1947. Joratz broke in as an 18-year-old in 1937 and got to see the country playing baseball in Springfield Washington, Albany, Houston, Albuquerque, Pocatello, and finally Tacoma. Though he never made it above Class A ball, here he is, pictured on a very attractive baseball card in a vintage hobby auction.
