Interesting grouping of twelve portraits featuring members of the World Champion 1915 Boston Red Sox. Boston defeated the Philadelphia Phillies four games to one in a hotly contested World Series, with each game being decided by a single run. Philadelphia only managed to defeat Boston in Game 1 behind a complete game from Pete Alexander. Babe Ruth appeared in a single at bat across the entire series with a pinch hitting assignment in Game 1.

10 of the 12 photos in this group feature superb tonal contrast, with only Dutch Leonard of slightly lesser quality and Harry Hooper lesser still. Jack Barry appears in a Philadelphia Athletics uniform here, likely because these images were used for publication before a shot of Barry in a Sox uniform became available. All examples measure approx. 3.5" x 5" and appear to be trimmed to some degree though the central images remain unaffected. Verso of all photos features a unique Harris & Ewing/Paul Thompson combination stamp we cannot recall seeing on another series of vintage news service photos. Players included: Jack Barry, Hick Cady, Del Gainer, Larry Gardner, Dick Hoblitzell, Harry Hooper, Hal Janvrin, Dutch Leonard, Duffy Lewis (2), Everett Scott, Chet Thomas.

These photos are fresh to the hobby and originate from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where they have been stored for several decades until this offering.
